Trump ‘Is 100 Percent Correct’: Cambria CEO Says Tariffs Are Good for Business The chief executive of a Minnesota quartz producer is hailing President Donald Trump’s tariff policy as a lifeline for saving jobs. “The president is 100 percent correct,” Cambria CEO Marty Davis told the Business Journal, adding, “We’re fortunate he has the courage and intelligence to see this for what it is.” Belle Plaine-based Cambria is the largest U.S. producer of quartz countertops, backsplashes, and floor tiles. Cambria has led efforts to persuade the U.S. Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission to counteract what the company’s CEO says is a Chinese strategy to force American companies out of business by dumping—flooding the market with cut-price imports. www.theepochtimes.com/trump-is-100-percent-correct-cambria-ceo-says-tariffs-are-good-for-business_2963352.html
Trump returning power back to the people… and pissing off the DS lackeys Employees Turn Their Backs On AG Secretary In Silent Protest As He Announces Decision To Move Two Agencies Government employees turned their backs on Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue during a meeting Thursday as a silent protest over the decision to relocate the Economic Research Service (ERS) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). The ERS and NIFA are currently located in Washington, D.C., and are research agencies within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA plans to move the agencies, including their 550 research jobs, to Kansas City, in a move to save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars, according to CNN. Many of the employees, however, feel that the change is due to politics and only serves as a platform to interrupt climate research. Perdue announced the decision Thursday morning after both agencies previously voted to unionize in order to stop the move. dailycaller.com/2019/06/14/sonny-perdue-silent-protest-kansas-city/
Oregon Governor Kate Brown holds news conference | KGW >Oregon Governor Kate Brown holds a news conference to take general questions. >Best comment Maybe you could tell us about your involvement in uranium one? So many rumors going around! So much talk regarding the sealed indictments! They say that when they are opened, you will be going to GITMO? Also, so much chatter regarding child sex trafficking going on in Oregon? What do you know about this, Kate Brown? People keep saying that you would rather take care of all the illegals than our own people! Why won’t you work with ICE? As you know, an illegal got out of jail, he went right out and raped a 65 year old woman!! It seams you, Kate Brown, allowed this to happen!! People keep saying Oregon is waking up, and the guilty Will be gone soon! That voter fraud has been taken care of & that people will be arrested, big brother really is watching!! We want to know why you, Kate Brown, allowed Ted Wheeler make such a fool out of himself and Portland by allowing his friends, the antifa terrorists wreak havoc in Portland? Ted also ordered the Portland Police Bureau to stand down several times!! How come YOU didn’t stop such a fool as Ted from doing this?? People keep saying you are behind this? Is that true? Portland has lost many Officers, who are very angry that the Oath they took was made a total mockery of by Ted Wheeler!! These Officers are finding new jobs in departments where their Oath is respected!! Ted Wheeler is despicable & actually really stupid for what he encouraged to happen!! He certainly confirmed that any moron can run for office & win!! The only smart thing he’s done, is deciding NOT to run for re-election!!!
President Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign may be looking to push resources into a very blue state next year. Trump turned both Wisconsin and Michigan red in 2016, a development that contributed to a victory that shook the American Left. Oregon Republican Party Communications Director Kevin Hoar believes the tide is turning in his very blue state, saying: "Every day Oregonians can see that President Trump is taking on the big problems and making the economy a huge success. This provides a powerful contrast between the policies we hear about from the 2020 Democratic presidential field, and the promises kept and success delivered by President Trump. Oregon continues to be home to a growing number of forgotten men and women, especially in rural Oregon, a major theme of his campaign since 2016." www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/06/11/trump-campaign-considers-oregon-election/
Gov. DeSantis signs bill banning sanctuary cities in Florida TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WSVN) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill to effectively ban so-called sanctuary cities in the state. He signed the bill at a ceremony in Okaloosa County, shortly before 12 p.m., Friday. The proposal was one of the most controversial issues of the year and a main priority for DeSantis. Under the bill, local governments throughout the state would be required to “use their best efforts to support the enforcement of federal immigration law.” Senate sponsor Joe Gruters assures the estimated 200,000 undocumented immigrants residing in the state have nothing to worry about if they don’t break the law. wsvn.com/news/politics/gov-desantis-signs-bill-banning-sanctuary-cities-in-florida/

US says Iran took mine off tanker; Iran denies involvement DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The U.S. military on Friday released a video it said shows Iran’s Revolutionary Guard removing an unexploded limpet mine from one of the oil tankers targeted near the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting the Islamic Republic sought to remove evidence of its involvement from the scene. Iran denies being involved, accusing the U.S. instead of waging an “Iranophobic campaign” against it. The U.S. Navy rushed to assist the stricken vessels in the Gulf of Oman, off the coast of Iran, including one that was set ablaze Thursday by an explosion. The ships' operators offered no immediate explanation on who or what caused the damage against the Norwegian-owned MT Front Altair and the Japanese-owned Kokuka Courageous. Each was loaded with petroleum products, and the Front Altair burned for hours, sending up a column of thick, black smoke. www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2019/06/14/us-says-iran-removed-unexploded-mine-from-oil-tanker/
U.S. Central Command Statement on June 13 Limpet Mine Attack in the Gulf of Oman USCENTCOM June 13, 2019 — U.S. Naval Forces in the region received two separate distress calls at 6:12 a.m. local time from the motor tanker (M/T) Altair and a second one at 7a.m. local time from the M/T Kokuka Courageous. Link to Images www.centcom.mil/Portals/6/Documents/Statements/MVKOKUKA%20COURAGEOUS.pdf Both vessels were in international waters in the Gulf of Oman approximately 10 nautical miles apart at the time of the distress calls. USS Bainbridge was approximately 40 nautical miles away from the M/T Altair at the time of the attack, and immediately began closing the distance. At 8:09 a.m. local time a U.S. aircraft observed an IRGC Hendijan class patrol boat and multiple IRGC fast attack craft/fast inshore attack craft (FAC/FIAC) in the vicinity of the M/T Altair. At 9:12 a.m. local time a U.S. aircraft observes the FAC/FIAC pull a raft from the M/T Altair from the water. At 9:26 a.m. local time the Iranians requested that the motor vessel Hyundai Dubai, which had rescued the sailors from the M/T Altair, to turn the crew over to the Iranian FIACs. The motor vessel Hyundai Dubai complied with the request and transferred the crew of the M/T Altair to the Iranian FIACs. At 11:05 a.m. local time USS Bainbridge approaches the Dutch tug Coastal Ace, which had rescued the crew of twenty-one sailors from the M/T Kokuka Courageous who had abandoned their ship after discovering a probable unexploded limpet mine on their hull following an initial explosion. While the Hendijan patrol boat appeared to attempt to get to the tug Coastal Ace before USS Bainbridge, the mariners were rescued by USS Bainbridge at the request of the master of the M/T Kokuka Courageous. The rescued sailors are currently aboard USS Bainbridge. Memphis Riot Over Fatal U.S. Marshal Shooting Injures 24 Police Officers Violent clashes with protesters in Memphis, Tennessee resulted in at least 24 police officers with injuries. The protests came following the shooting death of a man killed by US Marshals during an attempted arrest, according to Reuters. Two journalists were also injured when a protesting crowd attacked police with bricks and rocks. Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said: “At least 24 officers and deputies were injured — six were taken to the hospital. Multiple police cars were vandalized. A concrete wall outside a business was torn down. The windows were broken out at fire station 31.” The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says it has been called in to investigate the shooting, which occurred after US Marshals attempted an arrest of a man wanted on multiple warrants. The TBI said that the man rammed his vehicle several times into police cars before exiting the vehicle with a weapon. The TBI release stated: “The officers fired striking and killing the individual.” Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer claimed that nearly 300 people joined to protest the shooting. She tweeted: "Every life lost should matter…every single one. How many times will this be ok? It cannot continue to be." Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings told NBC at a news conference: “The officers did an enormous job tonight showing restraint in a very volatile situation. Officers had to don protective gear as the crowd threw objects, and a 'chemical agent' was used to disperse the crowd." The Memphis Police Department reported on Twitter that after the shooting, some police officers “received minor injuries” from people throwing “bricks/rocks” at them. A local newspaper in Memphis reported that the "tense standoff" wound up escalating with dozens of people. Mayor Strickland concluded: “Let me be clear—the aggression shown toward our officers and deputies tonight was unwarranted.” Rallings concluded: "I do want to commend individuals that did not decide to commit acts of violence toward the police officers, that showed restraint — I know that there were many individuals in the crowd that tried to assist in keeping everyone calm. My message tonight is that, is we should all wait and make sure we know exactly what happened before we spread misinformation or we jump to conclusions." He said police supported the right to protest, "but we will not allow any acts of violence, we will not allow destruction of property." www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-06-14/memphis-riot-over-fatal-us-marshal-shooting-injures-24-police-officers Police say black man killed in Memphis was sought in shooting www.reuters.com/article/us-police-shooting-tennessee/twenty-four-police-injured-in-memphis-riot-after-fatal-shooting-idUSKCN1TE1EY
Sheriff: Florida man tried to ram stolen dump truck through naval station gate The driver of a dump truck stolen from a Palm Coast landscaping company tried to smash through the main gate at Mayport Naval Station Tuesday morning but was stopped cold by a steel barrier activated by U.S. Navy sentries, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Rodney Simeon, a former Alabama State University basketball player from Miami, is under arrest on a Flagler County warrant for auto theft and burglary as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigate the incident. His bail was set at $25,000, according to his Jacksonville arrest report. Although no possible motive was provided, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said a ski mask and a gun were found inside the stolen truck, believed to belong to Simeon. The 24-year-old also was arrested June 3 on charges of destruction of evidence, suspended license, possession of marijuana and no car registration in Orange County, according to court records. Mayport spokesman Bill Austin said the forced entry attempt occurred about 9:30 a.m. at the main gate on Mayport Road, the driver reportedly ignoring repeated commands to stop at the gate and prompting security personnel to deploy a barrier. “A civilian male showed up at the main gate with no credentials and accelerated past the sentry,” Austin said. “They deployed the barrier. … He was in a stolen truck.” americanmilitarynews.com/2019/06/sheriff-florida-man-tried-to-ram-stolen-dump-truck-through-naval-station-gate/

BREAKING: Julian Assange will not face a full extradition hearing until next year, court hears. Five day hearing to be listed on a date after Feb 24.
@kirkkorner Courts correspondent for London Evening Standard. @standardnews
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who had a scraggly white beard, told a court '"175 years of my life is effectively at stake"' Julian Assange will stay in jail for EIGHT MONTHS before extradition hearing Julian Assange will face a full extradition hearing next year over computer hacking allegations as part of a US investigation into WikiLeaks. The hearing will begin on February 25, 2020, and is expected to last five days. WikiLeaks founder Assange, 47, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London via video link on Friday, a day after Home Secretary Sajid Javid revealed he had signed the US extradition request. Assange, who had a scraggly white beard, told the court: "175 years of my life is effectively at stake." Addressing the judge as "Lady Arbuthnot", he defended his website against hacking claims, saying: "WikiLeaks is nothing but a publisher." Assange is serving a 50-week prison sentence after being dragged out of the Ecuadorian embassy in April and jailed for a bail violation. An investigation has also been reopened into an allegation of rape in Sweden, which Assange has always denied. The court also heard that he has a date at the Court of Appeal, with his legal team later explaining he is to appeal against his sentence. Ben Brandon, representing the US, formally opened the case and said: "This is related to one of the largest compromises of confidential information in the history of the United States." Mark Summers QC, representing Assange, told the court there are a "multiplicity of profound issues" with the extradition case. "We say it represents an outrageous and full-frontal assault on journalistic rights," he said. Assange is accused by US authorities of conspiring to hack US government computers and violating an espionage law. He had skipped bail and bled to the Ecuadorian embassy seven years ago to avoid extradition to Sweden for questioning in a sexual assault investigation. A small group of protesters gathered outside the central London court ahead of the hearing. The crowd of around a dozen supporters held banners, including one with the message "Free Assange", as journalists from national and international publications queued to get into the court. Some protesters chanted "justice for Julian Assange" and "Defend freedom and democracy". He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I am very pleased that the police were finally able to apprehend him and now he's rightly behind bars because he broke UK law. "There is an extradition request from the US… I signed the extradition order and certified it and that will be going in front of the courts." On Thursday, Mr Javid said he had signed and certified an extradition order on Wednesday, although the final decision rests with the courts. He said it was a decision for the courts over whether Assange should be extradited. Mr Javid added: "There is a very important part of it for the Home Secretary and I want to see justice done at all times and we've got a legitimate extradition request so I've signed it but the final decision is now with the courts." A Home Office spokesman said: "Mr Assange was arrested in relation to a provisional extradition request from the United States of America. "He is accused of offences including computer misuse and the unauthorised disclosure of national defence information. "We have received the full extradition request, which has been certified by the Home Secretary. "This case is now before the courts and it would be inappropriate to comment further." www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-julian-assange-stay-jail-16516218

"His distant Jewish ancestry notwithstanding—in 1745, one of his mother's forebears, Jewish by birth but Christian by choice, moved to the American colonies and lived as a Mennonite—David Berg was outspokenly anti-Semitic, believing that the Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus, as well as all persecution of Christians in the world. In support of his views of an international Jewish conspiracy, he cited the forged Protocols of the Elders of Zion, but disclaimed the label "anti-Semitic". Berg was also known to attack black people in his letters, as he believed the Curse of Ham applied to them. He also claimed that black people were being used by a group referred to by him as the AC's (antichrists) in order to bring about the new world order."
China summons U.S. diplomat to complain about Hong Kong remarks BEIJING/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - China summoned a senior U.S. diplomat on Friday to lodge a formal complaint about U.S. comments on Hong Kong, after proposed U.S. legislation that would require the government to justify the continuation of special treatment for the territory. The bipartisan Senate legislation, sponsored by several senior senators, would require the U.S. secretary of state to issue an annual certification of Hong Kong’s autonomy to justify special treatment under the U.S. Hong Kong Policy Act of 1992. The proposed law, introduced by Republican Senator Marco Rubio and Democratic Senator Ben Cardin, would also require the U.S. president to identify those responsible for the abduction of booksellers and other individuals from Hong Kong and subject them to U.S. sanctions. The planned legislation comes amid a political crisis in the former British colony, where protests have boiled over against a proposed law that would allow extraditions to mainland China. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister summoned Robert Forden, the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission in Beijing, to lodge stern representations over recent U.S. comments and actions on Hong Kong and the extradition law and urged Washington to stop interfering in the city’s affairs immediately. Le urged Washington not to not take any actions that harm Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability, the ministry said in a statement. “We urge the U.S. side to treat the Hong Kong government objectively and fairly and respect its normal legislative process,” the statement cited Le as saying. “China will watch the U.S. side’s actions and further respond,” he added, without elaborating. Hong Kong returned to Chinese rule in 1997 under a “one country, two systems” deal guaranteeing it special autonomy, including freedom of assembly, free press and independent judiciary. Many accuse China, where the courts are strictly controlled by the Communist Party, of extensive meddling since then, with the extradition proposals a further example. Earlier on Friday, the foreign ministry expressed “extreme dissatisfaction” with the proposed U.S. bill, calling it “irresponsible carping and crude interference”. China called on the United States “to give up its delusions of creating chaos in Hong Kong, stop pushing the proposed bill and to stop interfering in China’s domestic affairs,” spokesman Geng Shuang told a regular media briefing. The bill would also require the president to issue a strategy to protect U.S. citizens and business from the effects of a revised extradition law and the U.S. Commerce Department to issue an annual report assessing whether Hong Kong was adequately enforcing U.S. and U.N. sanctions, particularly those on Iran and North Korea. In addition, the legislation would make clear that Hong Kong citizens should not be denied visas to the United States if they were arrested or detained in connection with protest activity there. Scuffles broke out between demonstrators and police in Hong Kong on Thursday as hundreds of people persevered with a protest against the extradition law a day after police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to break up big crowds. Wednesday’s protests around the city’s legislature forced the postponement of debate on the bill, which many in Hong Kong fear will undermine freedoms and confidence in the commercial hub. www.reuters.com/article/us-hongkong-extradition-usa-congress/china-summons-u-s-diplomat-to-complain-about-hong-kong-remarks-idUSKCN1TF0XD?

Morgan Stanley’s Business Conditions Index Just Suffered The Biggest One Month Decline In History We continue to get more indications that U.S. economic conditions are going to deteriorate rapidly during the second half of this year. Yesterday, I reported on a brand new survey which found that 69 percent of U.S. CFOs believe that a recession is coming “by the end of 2020”, and today we learned that Morgan Stanley’s Business Conditions Index has fallen dramatically. In fact, according to CNBC the sudden drop in the index was “the largest one-month decline on record”… A reading of the economy from Morgan Stanley is signaling “June gloom.” Morgan Stanley’s Business Conditions Index, which captures turning points in the economy, fell by 32 points in June, to a level of 13 from a level of 45 in May. This drop is the largest one-month decline on record and the lowest level since December 2008 during the financial crisis, according to the firm. At this point, I really don’t see how anyone can possibly claim that the U.S. economy is doing well. We also just learned that U.S. unemployment claims have now risen for three weeks in a row, and the trade war is clearly beginning to take an immense toll on the economy. www.activistpost.com/2019/06/morgan-stanleys-business-conditions-index-just-suffered-the-biggest-one-month-decline-in-history.html
Surprise! Biggest investor in the Russian economy is… the United States US investment in Russia was 13 times bigger than official numbers show, statistics released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) have revealed. The data shows that the US was the largest investor in Russia, accounting for 8.9 percent or $39.1 billion of the $441.1 billion total accumulated investments at the end of 2017, Russian business outlet RBC stated, citing Wednesday’s UNCTAD report. This is 13 times more than Russia’s official estimates. The Central Bank of Russia had earlier said that US investment in the Russian economy amounted to $3.05 billion in 2017 and $500,000 more a year later. The US Department of Commerce figures on investment to Russia are also almost three times lower than the UNCTAD statistics, amounting to nearly $13.9 billion. The unexpected differentiation between the figures can be easily explained, however. Apart from official direct investments, the UN body’s report covered so-called ultimate investors, meaning that a country and its businesses may direct funds through one or several conduits. Therefore, real cross-border financial flows from the US to Russia, as well as between other countries, could be far more significant than direct investment data suggests. For example, some foreign investments, including American ones, are made through affiliated companies in Europe. However, in the official Russian statistics, they will be counted as investments from the country where such a firm is located. www.rt.com/business/461859-us-biggest-investor-russia/
RAMBleed Attack – Flip Bits to Steal Sensitive Data from Computer Memory A team of cybersecurity researchers yesterday revealed details of a new side-channel attack on dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) that could allow malicious programs installed on a modern system to read sensitive memory data from other processes running on the same hardware. Dubbed RAMBleed and identified as CVE-2019-0174, the new attack is based on a well-known class of DRAM side channel attack called Rowhammer, various variants [GLitch, RAMpage, Throwhammer, Nethammer, Drammer] of which have been demonstrated by researchers in recent years. Known since 2012, Rowhammer bug is a hardware reliability issue that was found in the new generation of DRAM chips. It turned out that repeatedly and rapidly accessing (hammering) a row of memory can cause bit flips in adjacent rows, i.e., changing their bit values from 0 to 1 or vice-versa. In the following years, researchers also demonstrated successful exploits to achieve privilege escalation on the vulnerable computers by flipping (writing) bits in the victim's memory. thehackernews.com/2019/06/rambleed-dram-attack.html
Cartels & Walls A former Democrat from Arizona is saying his state’s politicians are under the thumb of the Mexican cartels and this control extends to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi from lovely California. Jeffrey Peterson, a tech entrepreneur who was picked by then Gov. and future Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano for state’s influential Arizona-Mexico Commission, implies this drug money is the main reason why Speaker Pelosi is fighting tooth-and-nail against President Trump’s proposed border wall. billlawrenceonline.com/drug-cartels-control-pelosi/

Actually, this is old news... Tuesday, 14 January 2014 U.S. Government and Top Mexican Drug Cartel Exposed as Partners For over a decade, under multiple administrations, the U.S. government had a secret agreement with the ruthless Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel that allowed it to operate with impunity, an in-depth investigation by a leading Mexican newspaper confirmed this week. In exchange for information and assistance in quashing competing criminal syndicates, the Bush and Obama administrations let the Sinaloa cartel import tons of drugs into the United States while wiping out Sinaloa competitors and ensuring that its leaders would not be prosecuted for their long list of major crimes. Other revelations also point strongly to massive but clandestine U.S. government involvement in drug trafficking. Relying on over 100 interviews with current and former government functionaries on both sides of the border, as well as official documents from the U.S. and Mexican governments, Mexico’s El Universal concluded that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the U.S. Justice Department had secretly worked with Mexican drug lords. The controversial conspiring led to increased violence across Mexico, where many tens of thousands have been murdered in recent years, the newspaper found after its year-long probe. The U.S. agents and their shady deals with Mexican drug lords even sparked what the paper called a “secret war” inside Mexico. www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/north-america/item/17396-u-s-government-and-top-mexican-drug-cartel-exposed-as-partners

Climate Change - Still a hoax…
"Carbon pricing essential for climate: Pope The Pope has criticised those who deny human-induced climate change and called carbon pricing 'essential' for stemming its impacts. Pope Francis says carbon pricing is "essential" to stem global warming - his clearest statement yet in support of penalising polluters - and appealed to climate change deniers to listen to science. In an address to energy executives at the end of a two-day meeting on Friday, he also called for "open, transparent, science-based and standardised" reporting of climate risk and a "radical energy transition" away from carbon to save the planet. Carbon pricing, via taxes or emissions trading schemes, is used by many governments to make energy consumers pay for the costs of using the fossil fuels that contribute to global warming, and to spur investment in low-carbon technology. The Vatican did not release the names of those who attended the closed-door meeting at its Academy of Sciences, a follow-up to one a year ago, but industry sources said the companies represented were believed to be the industry giants Eni, Exxon, Total, Repsol, BP, Sinopec, ConocoPhillips, Equinor, Chevron. A small group of demonstrators gathered outside a Vatican gate. One held a sign reading "Dear Oil CEOs - Think of Your Children". Francis, who has made many calls for environmental protection and has clashed over climate change with leaders such as US President Donald Trump, said the ecological crisis "threatens the very future of the human family". He implicitly criticised those who, like Trump, deny that climate change is mostly caused by human activity. "For too long we have collectively failed to listen to the fruits of scientific analysis, and doomsday predictions can no longer be met with irony or disdain," he said. Discussion of climate change and energy transition must be rooted in "the best scientific research available today". Last year, Trump rejected projections in a report by his own government that climate change will cause severe economic harm to the US economy. Trump also announced his intent to withdraw the United States from the 2015 Paris deal to combat climate change, becoming the first country to do so among 200 signatories. Francis, who wrote an encyclical - a significant document on Church teaching - in 2015 on protection of the environment, and strongly supports the Paris accord, said time was running out to meet its goals. "Faced with a climate emergency, we must take action accordingly, in order to avoid perpetrating a brutal act of injustice towards the poor and future generations," he said. "We do not have the luxury of waiting for others to step forward, or of prioritising short-term economic benefits."" Donald Trump Announces Tom Homan as ‘Border Czar’ President Donald Trump announced Friday that former Acting Director of ICE Tom Homan would be the new immigration czar for his administration. Trump broke the news during a morning phone conversation with Fox and Friends. The president said that Homan would take a “border czar” position and would report directly to him. “He’ll be a border czar, he’ll be very much involved with the border, he’ll be reporting directly to me, he’ll be probably be working out of the White House but probably spending a lot of time at the border,” Trump said. “He’s a good man. Done a good job.” Homan served as the acting director of ICE in the Trump administration in 2017 before he joined Fox News Channel as a contributor in August 2018. Trump also said he was not committed to nominating Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan to take the job full time. “He is doing a very nice job, we’re going to see, I’ve got to get used to him, because its a very important thing to me, the border,” he said. Trump noted that he was bringing in other “tough” people to handle immigration, such as Mark Morgan to lead ICE and Ken Cuccinelli at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. “Ken Cuccinelli just took over, he’s fantastic, he’s as tough as you get, he’s smart,” Trump said. www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/06/14/donald-trump-announces-tom-homan-as-border-czar/
House Armed Services Committee Approves $733B Defense Spending Bill The House Armed Services Committee has approved a $733 billion dollar defense spending bill. During a heated 21-hour markup session, which ended Thursday morning, the committee voted mostly along party lines to move the bill to a floor vote. The legislation makes changes to U.S. nuclear missile policy, sets limitations on the use of the Guantanamo Bay detention center, and does provide a 3.1-percent pay raise for troops. The bill also provides for the creation of the U.S. Space Corps, which is a slimmed down version of President Trump’s Space Force idea as a division of the Air Force. Perhaps the most divisive issues in the proposed legislation are the provisions which would prevent any defense department funds, including funding for drug enforcement, from being used on the border wall. It also prohibits Pentagon funds from being used to house children separated from their parents. www.oann.com/house-committee-approves-defense-spending-bill/
Christchurch mosque attack suspect pleads not guilty www.france24.com/en/20190614-new-zealand-christchurch-attack-suspect-pleads-not-guilty The man accused of the New Zealand mosque attacks smirked as his lawyer entered not guilty pleas to terrorism, murder and attempted murder charges Friday before a judge who set his trial for next May. The courtroom was filled with 80 survivors and family members of the 51 who were slain, while about another 60 watched the hearing on video in an overflow room at the Christchurch High Court. Four cultural advisers and other staff were assigned to help the victims and family members understand the proceedings and the next steps in the case. A man who addressed the survivors said they had been praying during the holy month of Ramadan and that the Muslim community would help and support each other during the coming weeks and months. Brenton Tarrant, the 28-year-old Australian accused of the attacks, appeared at the hearing via video link from a small room at the maximum security prison in Auckland where he's being held. The link was muted and he didn't attempt to speak. Other than smirking a couple of times, Tarrant showed little emotion during the hearing. When Judge Cameron Mander asked if he could hear and see what was going on in the courtroom, Tarrant nodded. At times he looked around the room and stretched his neck. The judge did not allow cameras or video in the courtroom although did approve a sketch artist commissioned by The Associated Press. Tarrant has been charged with 51 counts of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder and one terrorism charge in relation to the March 15 shootings. Mander said the findings of two mental-health assessments showed Tarrant had no issues related to his ability to enter pleas and stand trial. The assessments are standard in murder cases. The judge scheduled a six-week trial to begin May 4. Tarrant will remain in custody ahead of his next hearing in mid-August. Outside the court, police and court security staff escorted a man away after he got into an argument with survivors and family members, who later said the man was saying things supportive of white supremacist ideology. It wasn't immediately clear if the man had been arrested. Janna Ezat wore a shirt that she'd designed which featured an image of her son Hussein Al-Umari, who was killed in the attacks. She said the court hearing had made her angry. "Before I was OK and calm and believe in this life my son died and he is in a good place," she said. "But when I saw the terrorist, he was just, he's nothing. Just sitting like that. Pretending that he's innocent and nothing is wrong." She said she thought the shooter deserved to be given the death penalty, even though New Zealand no longer institutes the punishment. "It's not easy to lose your child. Not only my child, but 50 people," Ezat said. "It's unfair. It's unfair. And he was laughing." Abdul Aziz, who is considered a hero for confronting the gunman at the Linwood mosque, said he wouldn't say the suspect's name. "He's a coward. And behind the cell he's laughing," Aziz said. "He should have laughed when I faced him. Then I would see how he laugh. He run like a dog. He run like a chicken." In the March 15 attacks during Friday prayers, 42 worshippers were killed at the Al Noor mosque and seven were killed at the Linwood mosque. Two more people died later at the Christchurch Hospital. The shooter livestreamed much of the attack on Facebook. Tarrant had earlier published a 74-page manifesto espousing a white supremacist philosophy and detailing his plans to attack the mosques. New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has vowed never to say the accused man's name. Last month she helped lead a global pledge named the "Christchurch Call," aimed at boosting efforts to keep internet platforms from being used to spread hate, organize extremist groups and broadcast attacks. The economic and strategic value to the U.S. of one asteroid, successfully exploited boggles the mind. Iron, Nickel, Gold, Platinum, Iridium, rare earth elements…. "the value of the asteroid’s entire yield will amount to $10,000 quadrillion. Or, to make it easier, $10 with 18 zeroes following it." The Psyche mission is a journey to a unique metal asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. What makes the asteroid Psyche unique is that it appears to be the exposed nickel-iron core of an early planet, one of the building blocks of our solar system. Deep within rocky, terrestrial planets - including Earth - scientists infer the presence of metallic cores, but these lie unreachably far below the planets' rocky mantles and crusts. Because we cannot see or measure Earth's core directly, Psyche offers a unique window into the violent history of collisions and accretion that created terrestrial planets. The mission is led by Arizona State University. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is responsible for mission management, operations and navigation. The spacecraft's solar-electric propulsion chassis will be built by Maxar (formerly SSL) with a payload that includes an imager, magnetometer, and a gamma-ray spectrometer. Science Goals Understand a previously unexplored building block of planet formation: iron cores. Look inside terrestrial planets, including Earth, by directly examining the interior of a differentiated body, which otherwise could not be seen. Explore a new type of world. For the first time, examine a world made not of rock and ice, but metal. Science Objectives: Determine whether Psyche is a core, or if it is unmelted material. Determine the relative ages of regions of Psyche's surface. Determine whether small metal bodies incorporate the same light elements as are expected in the Earth's high-pressure core. Determine whether Psyche was formed under conditions more oxidizing or more reducing than Earth's core. Characterize Psyche's topography. Scientific Instruments and Investigations Multispectral Imager Gamma Ray and Neutron Spectrometer Magnetometer X-band Gravity Science Investigation Deep Space Optical Communication (DSOC) The Psyche mission will test a sophisticated new laser communication technology that encodes data in photons (rather than radio waves) to communicate between a probe in deep space and Earth. Using light instead of radio allows the spacecraft to communicate more data in a given amount of time. The DSOC team is based at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
